Answer

You may already have a domain (such as a .sch.uk) that you would like to point/redirect to your Recipero website. If so, you will need to contact the domain controller (the company or person who looks after this for you) for this website and point it to our servers. To do this follow these simple steps:

Step 1 - Click on the link http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools to take you to a website where you are going to use free domain tools.

Step 2 - Once you have loaded the home page, scroll down slightly until you can see the three columns of boxes. The box you want is the top box in the left column called 'WHOIS/IPWHOIS Lookup' as shown by the red circle in Figure 1 below.

Step 3 - Now enter the domain name you wish to use (eg www.madeupname-inf.essex.sch.uk), making sure that there are no spaces. Now press the 'WHOIS' button.

Step 4 - When the next screen is presented, scroll down and you will see some details regarding this domain. The information that you are concerned with for this purpose is the Registrar (the person or company who controls the domain) which is highlighted by the red circle in figure 2 below. You can now find out there telephone number by visiting their website address (also listed in the red box).

Step 5 - Once you know the phone number, you will need to contact these people and advise them that you would like to add an 'A' record for your domain that points to 77.246.166.91. They will tell you how long this will take.

Step 6 - When you have been informed this has been done, or after the period you were told, when you type in your .sch.uk domain name you should get a page like shown below in Figure 3. This is good as this means your domain provider has pointed your domain to our servers. If you do not get this page (or a page can not be found page) your domain provider has not made the changes in Step 5. Check with them that they have added an 'A' record pointing to 77.246.166.91.

Step 7 - Now all you need to do is let us know that you have pointed your domain to our server by going to http://support.recipero.com and clicking on the 'Contact us for support' button. When contacting us you should include both the address of the domain you want to use and your current ik.org (schools) or btik.com (community) domain. Once you have recieved a response back from us to say everything is setup, you should be able to access your website through this new domain.
