 SITEBUILDER: Adding a counter / tracking / statistic program
Solution

Please Note: Users of old software website cannot use Google Analytics as recommended below.

Rather than just setup a basic hit counter (we previously recommended sitemeter), we now recommend that you use Google Analytics. This program tells you lots of information about the users who look at your website, and where they come from. To add this to your website you need to go to Google Analytics to setup your account. If you already have signed up for a Google account, you will be able to login and use this account. Otherwise click the 'Sign Up Now' link.

Once logged in select the 'Sign Up' link in the bottom left corner. Enter your website address and other information as instructed, pressing continue to work through the screens. When you reach the code screen, placing your mouse in the code box will automatically select all the code. Now hold down CTRL + C to copy the code.

You will now need to login to your website and go to Site Settings > Basic Settings. Scroll down to the footer text section and choose the Code tab. Use the scroll bar at the side of this box to scroll to the bottom. You will see lots of code, ending in the following:

</body>
</html>

Place your cursor at the very start of the </body> line and press enter. You will see a new line has been added, so now place your cursor at the start of this new line. Now press CTRL + V which will now paste the code you earlier copied into this box. If the code does not insert or inserts something else, you will need to copy it again from the Google screen. Now press 'Save & Close'.

Now return to Google and login to your account (you may already be logged in) and you will need to click the 'Check Status' button. This is now your tracking for your website setup.

Please Note: Google Analytics is a third-party service, and thus is not supported by Recipero. Should you have any questions on how to view your reports, problems with your login, creating an account, or anything related to the Google Analytics service, you will need to contact refer to the help on Google.
